2025 Ahepa Veterans Day Luncheon Spotlight
The 2025 Veterans Day Luncheon & Commemoration
For over 30 years, the Worthington Chapter has set aside a day to pay tribute to the heroic service of all veterans. On Sunday, November 16, 2025, 55 guests gathered at the Pappas Restaurant in Cockeysville for the event coordinated by Brothers John Stathopoulos, Nicholas Prevas, and Peter Samios. Brother Prevas served as master of ceremonies and introduced Chapter President, Mike Baglanis, who offered very inspiring welcome remarks. The National Anthems of America and Greece were led by Brother Tony Ziesat. Brother Prevas then recited the special prayer that was offered at the chapter’s first event in 1994, followed by the solemn tolling of bells in remembrance of all deceased veterans.
Among the special guests were District # 3 Governor Manos Sakiotis, District #3 Athletic Director Tom Pantelides, Parish Council President Georgeann Morekas of the Annunciation Cathedral, and AHEPA brothers from the local sister chapter, Lord Baltimore # 364.
After dinner and dessert, guests enjoyed an insightful presentation by Mr. Scott Foley of the “Stars and Stripes” military publication based in Washington, D.C. Since the Civil War era, “Stars and Stripes” has documented and chronicled the lives, service, and spirit of America’s military community. Veterans in attendance were then recognized and gifted with a special challenge coin from Stars and Stripes.
In closing, President Baglanis thanked everyone for attending and noted that the patriotism and dedication of veterans provide us the ability to enjoy many freedoms and a better way of life. We look forward to continuing this tradition in the coming year!
